No, I’m not perfect…not even close! And that’s OK.

Dear Avery,Perfect

Perfection is a word most people strive to embody. We want to look perfect, live in the perfect neighborhood, marry the perfect partner, etc.I try my best to live my life to the fullest, and sometimes that means that everything needs to be perfect in order to feel full.

When I am perfectly satisfied with my current state, sometimes I yearn for more or I wonder what bad thing will happen to disrupt it. Then sometimes, just sometimes, I live. Live in the moment, and enjoy. << We all  need to do more of that. 🙂

As a Christian, the only view of “perfection” we have is God and His Son, Jesus. He gave us guidelines to live a moral life, but He knows and understands that we are still not perfect. And man, is that a refreshing feeling. It’s OK that I’m not perfect. Wheeeeeeeew!

I’m not perfect because I:

  • still swear and that’s not very Christian-like or lady-like
  • have judgmental thoughts
  • am envious of others
  • feel the need to wear make up all day – everyday
  • sleep in sometimes and don’t walk my dog…her sad eyes are the WORST
  • have a habit for breaking communication with people I rarely see

When you face your flaws, Avery, be sure to embrace your positive traits too!

Life is wonderful because I :

  • pray and thank God for the day whether its good, bad, or average
  • truly love and care about people around me
  • share my snacks/food with my dog. I’m fond of the idea:  “One for you.. One for me..”
  • smile and laugh everyday
  • choose happiness… I’ve learned that happiness doesn’t choose you.

Bottom line: “Life does not have to perfect to be wonderful.”

With love,

Aunt Megs
