Dear Avery,
I’m a few days late from Thanksgiving, but its never a bad time to list the things you are thankful for. So here is my current list.
1. I’m thankful for bread. I love bread. I love bagels, bread bowls, baguettes, toast, and Hawaiian sweet rolls–you name it! Without any of those, I probably wouldn’t be alive…so, I must thank the makers of bread. I’m currently watching Aladdin as I write this, and the opening scene is of Aladdin running from guards because he stole a loaf of bread. He understands my love.
2. I’m thankful for a dog who continues to love unconditionally, even though I call her a million baby names, talk to her like a tiny human, and invade her space so I can kiss and snuggle her.
3. I’m thankful for no drama — almost a year strong! Amazing! (The trick here is to not have dramatic people in your life but to surround yourself with happy people.)
4. I’m thankful for a group of friends who are: mature, fun, caring, loving, and compassionate. I’m thankful that I can have a conversation about a book or a movie, transition to how amazing the Lord is, and then go out for drinks and dancing with each of them.
5. I’m thankful that happiness is contagious.
6. I’m thankful for my coworkers. Intelligent and hard-working. They teach me more than any textbook could. They encourage me and compliment me. Humor is always alive and well in the office. I laugh everyday at work. And laughing is my favorite thing.
7. I’m thankful that the “i love you” in my family is quality time. No need for words.
8. I’m thankful for everything God had provided me. It’s far more than I ever imagined at this point in my life.
9. I’m thankful for a husband who: respects me, encourages me, compliments me, inspires me to be a better person, who is a picky eater like me, who loves to veg out, has an “Evie” voice, is silly and joins my silliness.
10. I’m thankful for the amazing social network. I get to see and read things about people that I love most in this world — regardless of where they are. I get to see you, Avery, grow up through pictures.
11. I’m thankful for music that speaks to my soul. I love when lyrics make me reminisce of a past event, person, or feeling. I love when a song takes me back to a point in time.
12. I’m thankful for a television show or movie that makes me laugh or contemplate life or makes me cry. I was never an emotional person, but over the past couple of years something changed, commercials make me cry now!
13. I’m thankful for this house we’ve turned into a home.
14. I’m thankful for gum. I love it. I chew 5 pieces a day. I may have a problem.
15. I’m thankful for jewelry. Anything to make me sparkle, I will gladly wear.
Be thankful for it all, Aves, life is a gift.
With Love,
Aunt Megs*
